The Kayak Section of the club held its inaugural session on the water last night. Despite the weather forecast being uncooperative, with westerly squally gusts touching F6/7 at times we managed to get all the attendees on the water for brief spells in the shelter of the harbour wall at Toward.
The wind and squalls, some still very wintry (despite it being the 28th May!) ended up forcing people to beat a hasty retreat back to the clubhouse. Everyone still appeared to have enjoyed the experience despite the weather.
Some of the more experienced paddlers stayed on for a while to play in the waves only to find that the wind had dropped significantly! ….Oh the irony.
We are all eagerly anticipating summer’s arrival any day now after what can only be described as a very cold, wet and windy May….
