Toward Sailing Club is located in Toward on the southern tip of east Cowal. It faces out over a 1+ mile crossing towards Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. Loch Striven is just to the north of the club and further west, the east Kyle (which leads to the Kyles of Bute, Colintraive and western Bute just beyond). To the east and south of the club lies the larger Clyde estuary which expands down past the Cumbrae islands and the Ayrshire coast.
Access to western Bute can be made through the scenic Kyles of Bute, west Kyle and south into the Sound of Bute. From here there is access to western Cowal and east Kintyre on Loch Fyne which is to the north. Loch Fyne also provides access to the Crinan canal which allows vessels to cross over Kintyre to Gigha, Islay, Jura, Mull, Oban and beyond by bypassing the more adventurous and longer trip around the Mull of Kintyre.
There are endless local possibilities for yachts, dinghies, kayaks and other watercraft based at Toward Sailing Club, with many local lochs to explore.
Fantastic wind/wave conditions can be found in close proximity to the club, as it is situated at a meeting point of several bodies of water many of which are surrounded by mountains which can funnel wind in different directions while creating interesting conditions for yachts, dinghies and kayaks.
The club can be found by following the main coastal road south from Dunoon, past Innellan and down to Toward. Keep following the main road around to the right, and you will eventually come across Toward Sailing Club on the left just opposite the entrance to Castle Toward. There is plenty of parking available at the clubhouse.
